What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a regulated healthcare profession focused on restoring and maintaining movement and function in individuals affected by injury, illness, or disability. Physios are highly trained in assessing joints and muscles to diagnose musculoskeletal problems. It aims to help people recover from physical problems, manage pain, and improve their overall quality of life using manual therapy- joint mobilisation, massage, taping, acupuncture and exercises, to name a few.
How does it work?
Often it is a combination of hands-on therapy and exercise. After asking a whole series of questions to get to know you and your problem we will look at your movement, strength and do some specialist testing of certain things. They won’t hurt! From this we will be able to give you a likely explanation of what is causing your pain and the name of your condition. You will then start a period of treatment which will include rehabilitation exercises for movement and strength and you will possibly have some hands on therapy if it is required.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans. Please call us to check. You will need to contact your insurance company to get an authorisation code and number of sessions authorised (e.g. BUPA usually give 5 sessions). You will then need to contact us to provide us with your membership number, authorisation code and number of sessions authorised.
Remember, you need to call your insurance company BEFORE coming to see us. If it is not verified, you may have to self–fund.
Please call us to book an appointment as I’m afraid you cannot book online appointments if your insurance is paying.

Do I need a referral from a doctor to see a physiotherapist?
In most cases, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. However, some insurance providers may require one for reimbursement. Check with your provider for details.
